tokyo zombie

Netflix sure does come up with some great recommendations.

MMA + zombies + voice-overs + animated segway = a surprisingly enjoyable evening.

Ridiculous.

new sewing machine

I KNOW you want to hear about [and see photos of] my new machine.

But I haven't taken any pictures yet...and no one likes photoless posts.

I'd take some now, but I've been running around all day and now it's too dark.

...
Crap...no one likes photoless posts...

So....look at this:

I forgot to say here that I made the top from an old comfy top of my own. Oops.

the zoo on a whim

We drove past the zoo yesterday. I said, "gosh, I haven't been to the zoo in forever. We should go sometime." Then we bought my new sewing machine. Then we drove past the zoo again. But we didn't drive past. We stopped and had a great day! It wasn't too hot, but hot enough for sno-cones! :P

wacky giraffes

The giraffe in the last three photos had some weird obsession with slobbering on the wood. weirdo.

video

Chris and I were standing near one of the giraffes and Chris was trying to get its attention by slapping his hand on one of the posts, and the giraffe started weaving his head at Chris really fast. It was pretty funny. I forgot my memory stick, so I could only get this short video.

fun at the petting zoo

Dangit little girl!

The petting zoo might have been my favorite part...which is kind of weird. Haha.

I really want to see this.
That is all...

the drive-in

We went to the Sunset Drive-in in Aurora last night. We saw the second Transformers movie, but didn't stick around for Imagine That. Transformers was okay--I was annoyed during the beginning because of all the random music playing in the background. What was that about? And the Autobots/Decepticons weren't as cool this time around; probably because we've seen them before and they aren't that big of a deal now. Optimus Prime did look pretty bad a in the end, though.

Anyway...I love the drive-in.

Next time:
We won't come so early.
We won't park so close, especially in our car.
We won't come when Chris has to work the next day.
We will bring friends.

the fourth

We had fun with some small fireworks in our backyard last night [shhh...don't tell], and I played around with my camera and sparklers. In the photo with the [almost] heart, the sparkler didn't light right away, so I didn't have enough time to finish. And in the last photo [my first attempt at writing 'early', I fell off the edge of the deck as I was writing the 'y' [if you look closely you can see my falling body]. Oops. Oh yeah--the first photo says 'hello'...just in case you couldn't tell... :D

Blogosphere Highlights

There was SO much going on in the blogging world this week. From Jenny's shop update and Kim's bedroom redo, to ceramic phones and a sale at J. Crew. And I can't forget the Blueberry Frozen Yogurt and a clever business card idea.

And all that was only via the blogs I read! I read a lot, but I don't read them all...

What took the cake this week for me was desire to inspire's post highlighting the work of Camille Soulayrol. A. May. Zing.

Camille? Can I intern with you? S'il vous plait?

ny/to to do

Only 17 days until we're 1000 miles away from the SGF.

There is so much I want to do during our short 7 day visit; we'll never be able to fit it all in.

Eating:
Mighty Taco! I've SO been craving this lately.
Tim Horton's; cheese croissant or bagel w/veggie cream cheese?
Rob's mozzarella quesadillas and other late night snacks. Enough said.
Gelato. Either in Buffalo or Toronto; just give me gelato!
Poutine. Glorious, heavenly poutine. I tried making it at home a few months ago. It wasn't the same...
And maybe some Buffalo wings? I've never ever actually had wings in Buffalo. Weird.

Shopping:
Lilith; my favorite teeny tiny clothing/accessories shop on Queen St. in Toronto.
Urban Outfitters; who doesn't love UO?--on the other side of the great Eaton Center (an enormous shopping mall). Not a priority, but still fun to visit.
An unknown fabric shop. I'm determined to find some nice linen or kitschy prints while I'm there. I'm seeing lots of hits for "fabric" on Queen Street, and a couple on Dundas.
Chinatown!

Sightseeing:
Niagara Falls, of course. Chris has never been; I may have been more than once--but the only time I remember was in the freezing cold winter.
Not sure what other touristy activies we'll be engaging in...

I've also been assigned a special mission by my family. Snacks. They want snacks. They want All-dressed chips, Aero Bars, Clodhoppers, sponge candy, and Kinder eggs. And Caty, I think I'll bring back a Cadbury bar from Canada just for you!

weiner poopie...

"in referring to wein...weiner poopie? My gosh..." That's awesome.

passports

We received our passports in the mail on Monday, hallelujah!

This means we can visit Canada while we're in Buffalo later this month.

I haven't been to Toronto in over two years, and Chris has never been. I. Can't. Wait.

This is going to be the best vacation ever!

Apartments

Our lease is up in October. And we'll be moving.

It's not that this place is too terribly awful, even if we say it is. We like moving. Well, I do.

I've been watching these new apartments being built. They look awesome. I've never lived in an apartment, and I don't really want to.

But these ones? Cool.

Utilities, internet, and cable included. PLUS they're brand freaking new. And not ugly. Prices range from $580 to $1200 per month. Eko Park Apartments.
